Breakfast Dumplings

Breakfast Dumplings
Introduction: This is a recipe that my Mother used to make very often for my breakfast. I will never forget the joy of the mornings when my dumplings were served for my breakfast. I made it for my kids and they loved it also, especially my son. Here it goes:

Total time:
  • 4 cups of milk
  • ½ cup of granulated sugar
  • 2 cups of flour
  • 2 eggs
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • cinnamon
  1. In a pot put the milk and sugar over medium heat, bring to a boil. Pay attention to the moment when the milk gets to boil because it bobbles and may overflow your pot
  2. While the milk is warming up, prepare the dumplings
  3. Put the flour in a bowl, add salt, baking powder, mix well
  4. Add eggs and ½ cup of cold water, mix well until you get a sticky mixture. If too sticky, add a little bit more flour, if too hard, add a little bit of water. The ideal mixture should be of a consistency that allows the spooning of the dumplings
  5. Using a teaspoon, place dumplings into the boiling milk, until the mixture is finished
  6. Boil for about 20 minutes on low heat
  7. Remove from the heat and ladle in bowls, sprinkle with cinnamon and serve while warm. Enjoy!
